A lot has been going on…
Well…where do I begin. We have been pretty busy lately. We just returned from a trip to Las Vegas. We had a great time out there and stayed busy most of the time. On Friday, we went on a Hoover Dam tour. We began the day getting on a raft at the Hoover Dam. We went about twelve miles down the Colorado River into Arizona. There were many interesting things along the river. We saw quite a few big horn sheep as well as several historical sites. After we got off the raft, we got into a SUV and drove through Rainbow Canyon. Once we left there, we headed back to Hoover Dam where we went on a little tour of inside the dam. It was very interesting to learn how the dam was built and many other facts about it. That trip took up most of the day. We just kind of hung around the hotel for the rest of the night and went to the ESPNZone to eat supper. Here’s a tip for anybody going to vegas. Don’t go eat at the ESPNZone during a Los Angeles Lakers playoff game. That place was nuts the whole time we were there. Saturday we walked down the Strip to different hotels. We saw the fountains at the Bellagio, the Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage, went to the top of the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Hotel, and went and saw the Cirque du Soleil Mystere show at Treasure Island. That show is great if you ever get the chance to go see it. I would go back and see it again if I had the chance. Sunday is where the real adventure was. We left the hotel at a little after 10:00 to go to the airport at around 10:30 to catch our 12:50 flight back to Dallas. When we arrived at the hotel, we realized that the flight had been pushed back to about 2:00. If we got on that flight, there was no way we would catch our other flight from Dallas to Monroe, so they put us on the flight at 11:05. So we had about 30 minutes to sprint through the airport, go through security, and get to our terminal to catch the flight. That was a lot more running than I was planning on doing that day.
The week before we went to Vegas, I had a golf tournament in Baton Rouge. It was the Louisiana Net Amateur Championship. We played at Santa Maria golf course and that was a great course. There were several really tough holes, but there was also quite a few really fun holes to play. I ended up getting third in the second flight which is good for the way I played. I didn’t play anywhere nearly as well as I thought I would. I do want to say thanks to Wimbreth and Blake for letting us stay there while we were down there.
Courtney graduated with her MBA from ULM a couple of weeks ago as well. She still has her 4.0 through college. I don’t know if she will go back or not, but if she does, I don’t think it will be now. I think she is pretty tired of school, but she may go back and get her doctorate someday. Everything else around here has been about the same as always. We have several other things planned for the summer including a trip to Hot Springs, so I’ll comment on all that when it comes up.
