A lot has been going on…

Well…where do I begin.  We have been pretty busy lately.  We just returned from a trip to Las Vegas.  We had a great time out there and stayed busy most of the time.  On Friday, we went on a Hoover Dam tour.  We began the day getting on a raft at the Hoover Dam.  We went about twelve miles down the Colorado River into Arizona.  There were many interesting things along the river.  We saw quite a few big horn sheep as well as several historical sites.  After we got off the raft, we got into a SUV and drove through Rainbow Canyon.  Once we left there, we headed back to Hoover Dam where we went on a little tour of inside the dam.  It was very interesting to learn how the dam was built and many other facts about it.  That trip took up most of the day.  We just kind of hung around the hotel for the rest of the night and went to the ESPNZone to eat supper.  Here’s a tip for anybody going to vegas.  Don’t go eat at the ESPNZone during a Los Angeles Lakers playoff game.  That place was nuts the whole time we were there.  Saturday we walked down the Strip to different hotels.  We saw the fountains at the Bellagio, the Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage, went to the top of the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Hotel, and went and saw the Cirque du Soleil Mystere show at Treasure Island.  That show is great if you ever get the chance to go see it.  I would go back and see it again if I had the chance.  Sunday is where the real adventure was.  We left the hotel at a little after 10:00 to go to the airport at around 10:30 to catch our 12:50 flight back to Dallas.  When we arrived at the hotel, we realized that the flight had been pushed back to about 2:00.  If we got on that flight, there was no way we would catch our other flight from Dallas to Monroe, so they put us on the flight at 11:05.  So we had about 30 minutes to sprint through the airport, go through security, and get to our terminal to catch the flight.  That was a lot more running than I was planning on doing that day.

The week before we went to Vegas, I had a golf tournament in Baton Rouge.  It was the Louisiana Net Amateur Championship.  We played at Santa Maria golf course and that was a great course.  There were several really tough holes, but there was also quite a few really fun holes to play.  I ended up getting third in the second flight which is good for the way I played.  I didn’t play anywhere nearly as well as I thought I would.  I do want to say thanks to Wimbreth and Blake for letting us stay there while we were down there.

Courtney graduated with her MBA from ULM a couple of weeks ago as well.  She still has her 4.0 through college.  I don’t know if she will go back or not, but if she does, I don’t think it will be now.  I think she is pretty tired of school, but she may go back and get her doctorate someday.  Everything else around here has been about the same as always.  We have several other things planned for the summer including a trip to Hot Springs, so I’ll comment on all that when it comes up.

Been a While

Things haven’t changed much since the last time I posted.   I’m still playing a lot of golf and work has been extremely busy.  Both are going pretty well though.  Work should slow down a little bit in the next couple of weeks and as the sun starts going down later, I’ll be getting even more golf in.

Courtney is graduating from ULM with her masters in May.  She is taking her final two classes right now and is staying pretty busy with homework.  I know she is really looking forward to getting done with that.

We went to the Reba McIntire/Kelly Clarkson concert this past weekend.  It turned out to be a great concert.  I’m not much for Kelly Clarkson, but they way they had the concert set up, it wasn’t that bad.  Reba sang many of her old songs, which is what I really wanted to hear.   One of the cast members of the TV show Reba opened the concert with a comedy act.  It was a decent act, but the actual concert was much better.

Another Update

There has been quite a bit that has been going on recently.  My brother proposed to his girlfriend (Ashley Cochran) not too long ago, so they will be getting married pretty soon.  I always wondered if he would ever settle down.  Now the question is where they will get married.   If Jay is in charge of making that decision, I look for it to be a drive through in Vegas or something.  Hopefully he won’t be making that decision.  I think we will all gladly welcome Ashley into the family.  She is a great person, and if she has put up with Jay so far, she shouldn’t have any problem with the rest of her life.

We just got finished with Christmas.  That has got to be the busiest time of the year.  As much as I enjoy the Christmas season, I am glad all the running around and eating are over with.  It gets pretty hectic running from place to place on Christmas Eve and Christmas day.  By the time it was all over, I really didn’t want to see any more food for a while.  I’m going to have to go on a diet now to lose all the weight that I gained over the past couple of weeks.

It looks like I am going to start the new year off sick.  I don’t get sick very often, but I don’t feel well right now.  Hopefully it will go away pretty quickly because I have a lot of golf and hunting planned for the next couple of days.  I hope I don’t have to miss any of it.  I tried to play this morning, but only got through 9 holes before I had to leave.  I did shoot a 39 on those 9 holes, so maybe I ought to play sick more often.  I’ve got a couple of tournaments coming up soon that I hope I am able to play in.  We’ll just have to see though.
